Greenworks lawn mower reviews
Gone are the days of wintry light kissing coldly on your face. Snow flurries has stopped falling and they do not swirl around people’s legs like house cats anymore. This is the end of your hibernation period. Snow is melting off the panes and treas. Wintery breaths are no longer clouding the ponds; frozen lakes have also stated melting off. Summer is around the corner and everyone is excited about it. This is the season when leaves are dark green and full, opened towards the sunlight and breath in the hot aromatic air. This is the time when you watch the trees, how they sway in a warming breeze. The sky blazes blue and the sun is a celebration of yellow, free and bright. The flowers everywhere, having vibrant hues, looks like scattered rainbows that arises from earth and water, yet can be nothing without golden rays of sun. They are a new masterpiece each day, changing the frameless scenery, gazing upward at the ever-present sky; they are the warmth of the land that give thanks to the warmth of the summer sun. The beaches are more people than sand. The birdsong drifts as well as any summertime pollen. It comes as magical as any flute and as soulful as love’s kiss. There is no cooling breeze or Cloud to block the highest sun. It seems like suddenly someone has clicked on the resume button and the paused euphoria has once again came to life.
As the summer sunshine pours over the moist soil, the earth welcomes the green grass and in almost no days, the green carpets of grass spread everywhere including parks, lawns, backyards etc. The soundless footsteps on the grass brings joy to the heart and refreshes the soul with the gentle tickle as each footstep forms a gentle cushion of green. Each strand of grass moves in the summer breeze as easily as a girl’s hair.
This is the time when families reunite to spend time together. They go to parks or sit in their lawns, smell delicious hotdogs or enjoy hot smoky barbecues. Children run around under the clear sky screaming with joy. The summer breeze hits your face like a ball of warm air. Everyone feels the grass as they can grab it in their hands. The coolness of summer shade can also be felt. Everyone enjoys the beautiful landscape while relaxing on the picnic blanket.

As the summer proceeds, the grass grows greener and longer in a wilder manner. Though it presents a very beautiful sight but to enjoy the luxuries that summer season brings, the grass needs to be trimmed short. The grass is usually trimmed using a lawn mower.
What is a Lawn Mower?
Back in times there were only pasture lands and no lawns which had to be kept clean. At that time, herds of domestic animals such as sheep and goats grazed the land to get food. This also kept the pasture lands neat and tidy. With the passage of time, as things advanced, people stated leaving empty spaces in their house to make lawn. Several different tools were used to keep them neat and tidy.
A lawn mower is a machine with one or more blades which is used to cut grass to an even height. Before the mid of 20 th century, reel mowers were used which had a cylindrical blade and was operated by manpower i.e. the blade rotated as the man pushed the mower forwards. Later, a lawn mower powered by internal combustion engine was invented by a British engineer Edwin Bunning in 1830 which became available to public in 1902. The electric operated lawn mower became available in markets in 1926.
Now a days, the most common type of mowers used are reel mowers which can be manual push mowers, electric mowers or gas mowers.
Manual push mowers
Manual push mowers usually have two wheels and a blade. The body and handle are both made up of steel. Some manual mowers have a bag or steel container attached to it to collect the trimmed grass while others do not have anything attacked to collect the trimmed grass. Manual push mowers require extra effort to push it forward especially on the patches where the length of grass is long. FYI, I have just at home and one negative point on manual mowers is the sound it makes. It is pretty loud, although less loud than the electric or gas mower, it is still loud. Hence, this is for your consideration if you decide to buy one of these manual grass trimmers.
Gas Powered Mowers
Gas mowers use gasoline or petrol as fuel. They are powered by inter combustion engines which are usually four-stroke engines. Their power generally ranges from four to seven horse powers. The real effort is to pull their cord to start these mowers. Although they do cover more range and have greater power than electric mowers, but still, they are disliked due to their non eco-friendly nature. They create significant amount of pollution due to combustion in their engine. They also create noise which makes working with them difficult. Their engines require periodic maintenance such as cleaning or replacement of spark plug and air filter and changing the engine oil.
Electric Lawn Mowers
Electric mowers are classified into corded and cordless mowers. Corded electric mowers get their power directly from power source plugs. They are limited in range as they are dependent on the length of the cord which reduces its mobility. There is also an additional hazard with these machines of accidently mowing over the power cable.
In contrast to corded lawn mowers, cordless lawn mowers are much handier. Cordless mowers get their power from charged batteries. This allows to have freedom of movement as it is not limited to the length of cord and there are no risks of the cords getting worn out.
Electric lawn mowers are noiseless which makes them eco-friendly. They also emit less toxic waste and gives your lawn an impressive clean cut. Starting these mowers is also effortless because pulling the string is not necessary as you can simple push the start button on. It is also light weight enough that it can be pushed and lifted easily, even kids can push it with least effort applied. Even there are cordless lawn mowers which are self-propelled so that you do not need to apply any effort just has to supervise which direction the mower is going to.
Lawn mowers comes into several sizes. Generally, small sized, non-powered push mowers are used for lawns and gardens having small surface area. Cordless electric lawn mowers are used for residential lawns or gardens which have slightly larger surface area. Riding mowers, which sometimes resemble small tractors, are larger than push mowers and are suitable for large lawns, although commercial riding lawn mowers (such as zero-turn mowers) can be “stand-on” types, and often bear little resemblance to residential lawn tractors, being designed to mow large areas at high speed in the shortest time possible. The largest multi-gang (multi-blade) mowers are mounted on tractors and are designed for large expanses of grass such as golf course and municipal parks, although they are ill-suited for complex terrain.
How to choose a lawn mower
There are several companies which offers lawn mowers in different models and sizes. Some of them are Honda Motor company, Ltd, Toro, John Deere, Cub Cadet, Craftsman, Lawn Boy, Greenworks, Makita, Bosch, Worx, Wolf Garten etc. All these companies offer lawn mowers in different models and sizes. One is better than the other. One company can offer you a product in 500 and another company can offer you the same product with same features in 250. It all depends on what brand you rely on. It is obvious that the price has something to do with product’s quality, durability and reliability. There will be a difference in the quality of raw material used to manufacture the product. Some mowers might be corded while others might be cordless. Some mowers might support only two grass discharge features while others might support three discharge features. Similarly, the battery capacity that mowers support and the position of cutting height might vary from model to model.
Buying a lawn mower depends on how you are going to use it. If you have a big lawn, then you need a cordless electric lawn mower with a steel deck but if you have a pretty small lawn then buying a manual lawn mower or a corded electric mower with plastic body will be enough for you.
Why mowing your lawn is necessary?
Mowing your lawn at least every month or after every three weeks is necessary. There are several benefits of cutting your garden grass regularly such as:
- A garden with freshly cut grass enhances the beauty of your landscape and makes it appealing to the viewers. The most obvious benefit of keeping the lawn neat and mowed is that it shows the aesthetics of the home’s owner and the pride they take in their home. Lawns and yards that receive proper mowing and maintenance provide neighborhoods pleasant, friendly and high valued atmosphere.
- When the grass is cut into uniform length, it will grow back more in uniform length and with denser green color due to the even distribution of resources like water and sunlight also when grass clippings are left on the surface. they decompose and re-enter the soil, enriching it and thus improving the overall health and beauty of the grass.
- It also keeps your lawn healthy and eliminate some pests from the grass because overgrown grass can quickly become infested with pests. Tall grass and weeds provide a suitable habitat for bugs and rodents which not only looks weird and creepy but can also become the reason of spreading diseases.
- Various pieces of debris are also picked while mowing so that nothing gets accumulated on the grass.

I’m so glad I found a mower in a reasonable price range. It came in three days, and assembly was a breeze! Just flip the handle upward, bolt the two handles together, and tighten it with your hands. The cutting path is around 14 inches. Assembly is just attaching the part of the top handle!
This lawnmower is rechargeable, precisely what I was looking for, a cordless mower which means you don’t have to worry about a power cord or gas. It also means you can carry it with you and use it anywhere – even in the backyard after a BBQ.
Long-lasting Handle
The lawnmower is a great weight and size. I like how it starts up quickly and smoothly. I also like how the handle folds up to make it easier to store. The charger has a light to let you know when it’s charging and has been set. All you have to do is unscrew two bolts from the sideways and fasten the rest of the handle!
Rear Bagging
My only complaint is that the bag is slightly smaller than expected, but it works perfectly for the larger lawn I have. On the other hand, I liked that it was a nice size for my little lawn, and I found that it does a good mulch job the clippings well. It’s easy to install, too. Just pinch the small plastic piece at the back to remove the bag from the machine. Then, hook the bag onto the back of the device to use it again!
I love the mulching feature of this mower. I like to let the clippings fertilize my lawn, and it does that beautifully. You can use a bag in the fall for your leaves and not have to rake them up. This mower can handle wet grass from the early morning rain. I found that this mower delivers a better, cleaner cut quality than other mowers I’ve used.

Can I use the mower in wet or icy conditions?
Yes, the mower is designed to work in wet or icy conditions.
The battery is designed to last up to 45 minutes on a single charge, so you can cover a large area without stopping and recharging. The deck is also designed to prevent ice build-up, so you can use the mower in cold weather without fear of it becoming clogged up.
Can I Mulch with it?
Yes, you can mulch with the Greenworks 17 Inch 40V Cordless Lawn Mower. It has a mulching blade that helps to chop down the leaves and other vegetation into small pieces, which then get spun around and pushed into the path of the lawn mower’s blades. This results in very fine mulch that helps to add nutrients and water to the soil, helping your lawn grow faster and healthier.
How does the performance of the Greenworks 17-Inch Cordless Lawn Mower compare to gas-powered mowers?
The performance of the Greenworks 17-Inch Cordless Lawn Mower can vary depending on factors such as lawn conditions, grass height, and the user’s mowing technique. However, in general, cordless electric mowers like the Greenworks 17-Inch Cordless Lawn Mower can provide similar performance to gas-powered mowers in terms of cutting ability and overall quality of cut.
The Greenworks 17-Inch Cordless Lawn Mower uses a 40V lithium-ion battery to power the motor, providing sufficient power to cut through most types of grass. Additionally, because electric mowers do not require gas or oil, they tend to be more environmentally friendly and can save the user money on fuel and maintenance costs over time.
One potential drawback of cordless electric mowers like the Greenworks 17-Inch Cordless Lawn Mower is that they may have a shorter runtime than gas-powered mowers, requiring the battery to be recharged more frequently. However, the runtime of the Greenworks 40V Cordless Lawn Mower can vary depending on the mode used and the condition of the battery, and it may be sufficient for many lawn mowing tasks.
Overall, while gas-powered mowers may still be the preferred choice for some users, the performance of the Greenworks 17-Inch Cordless Lawn Mower can provide a suitable alternative for those looking for a more environmentally friendly and cost-effective option.
What is the battery life of the Greenworks 40V Cordless Lawn Mower, and how long does it take to recharge?
The battery life of the Greenworks 40V Cordless Lawn Mower can vary depending on the condition of the battery and the mode used. In general, the runtime of the battery can range from 30-60 minutes, with the lower end of the range being more common for heavier mowing tasks.
The battery life can be extended by using the mower in the Eco mode, which reduces power consumption and increases runtime. However, this may also result in a reduction in cutting performance.
In terms of recharge time, it generally takes around 60-90 minutes to fully recharge the battery of the Greenworks 40V Cordless Lawn Mower, depending on the state of charge of the battery and the charging conditions. The mower comes with a charger that is designed to fully charge the battery within this timeframe. It is important to note that the battery life and recharge time of the Greenworks 40V Cordless Lawn Mower can vary depending on factors such as the age of the battery, the frequency of use, and the environmental conditions in which the mower is used and stored. Regular maintenance of the battery and following the manufacturer’s instructions for storage and charging can help to maximize the battery life and performance of the mower.
Final Words:
The Greenworks 17-Inch 40V Cordless Lawn Mower is our top pick for the best cordless lawn mower. It’s light, easy to use, and has an impressive runtime for a cordless model. With an outstanding precisely 4.5 star rating on Amazon, this cordless lawn mower is one of the best on the market.
With its sleek design, impressive build quality, and ability to run off a battery pack, this is an excellent mower for small to medium-sized lawns. It’s not quite in the league of the top-end Honda models, but it does what it’s supposed to in a more affordable package. You can also purchase this mower in corded form, though I recommend you go for the cordless option instead. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us in the comment box

Review: Greenworks Optimow 10 (2022)
We review Greenworks Optimow 10, a cheap robot lawn mower with lots of pros and only a few cons. Images, videos and in-depth testing! Greenworks Optimow 10 is a robot lawn mower for medium-sized lawns. We consider it cheap because it covers more surface than many other robot lawn mowers in the same price range, while also being connected, and regularly remotely upgraded with new firmware versions. Plus it has a very user-friendly guide wire support. However, the lower price comes with a cost. You will have to sacrifice in some areas. Let’s see where and why. This review consists of:
- Design – What does it look like?
- Installation – How do you install it and is the installation easy and time efficient?
- Performance terrainability – What types of lawns can it handle? Under what conditions does it run into trouble?
- Cutting time – How big of a lawn can it mow without having to mow all the time?
- Programming features – What features is it equipped with? Are they any good? How easy is it to program?
- Verdict – Is this robot any good? What are the pros and cons? How does it perform compared to other mowers in the same price range?
Design
Greenworks Optimow 10 is one of the bigger robot lawn mowers in the Greenworks fleet and it is also somewhat larger than other comparable robot lawn mowers from competitors. Greenworks still manages to keep it lightweight and you won’t actually feel that it’s big or bulky if you haven’t experienced one of the smaller robots before this acquaintance.
It has four wheels, which is great for terrainability performance. The back ones have a sufficient tread depth.
The cover of the body is removable. This is neat for when you need to clean the robot thoroughly. You can just remove the cover and rinse the robot with your garden hose.
There is a sturdy handle in the back right next to the cover, which is a great addition for when you need to carry it. If you don’t use the handle the cover might come loose, and it needs to be connected to all four positions otherwise the robot will give you an error code.
The hubcaps on Optimow 10 are also removable. But they kept falling off during the work sessions, so after a couple of weeks we decided to remove them completely.
You have three LED icons on the top of the robotic lawn mower informing you of the status for the cellular connection signal, potential errors and such. There is also a knob for manual cutting height adjustment (you can’t adjust the cutting height in the app).
As noted there are both pros and cons to the build quality, but nothing we feel is a red flag. We’ve actually had one of the Optimow 10 review samples working for two complete years now without having any trouble with errors or stuff breaking.
Installation process
The installation process for Greenworks Optimow 10 is somewhat time-consuming. Not because there are that many steps involved, but because you can’t finish the setup until it has downloaded and installed new software and that process can take up to a couple of hours. Therefore you have to do the setup in two steps – which is a bit annoying. It would have been better if you first got to finish the setup, and then when you could confirm everything was working as intended you could have gotten a message in the app regarding the new firmware.
The installation process is user friendly in every other way. The charging station has indicators for where each of the three connectors go (the two boundary wire ends and the guide wire end). You just remove the cover and hook them up. A green, steady light on the dock means you have a good signal. If you have a neighbor with a robot lawn mower installation you can change the signal code in the app.
12 Month Review. GreenWorks 80 Volt Electric Lawn Mower
The power cord has a sufficient length.
After you download the app you scan the QR code on the robot, input the pin code, and you are good to go.
Terrainability and performance
This green robot lawn mower will be your best friend in the garden when you have it up and running. You do need to do some adjustments to your wire installation during the first two weeks for this to be true, because it is a bit sensitive when moving along the boundary wire area if there are slopes close to it.
Compared to many of the cheaper competitors (and some of the ones in the same price range) it actually does a great job on bumpy lawns. It rarely gets stuck if the surface is uneven. When it gets stuck it is usually because it has been operating in an area with a slope where the boundary wire is in close proximity to the slope. It tends to sometimes slip outside the boundary wire and get stuck. Optimow 10 is not very strong when it comes to keeping a straight line on upward slopes, it kind of gravitates to the left or to the right as it continues forward, and thus it ends up in peculiar situations if there is a wire close by. However, if you make sure to keep the boundary wire a few inches from the slope, you won’t run into this problem.
Other than the slope handling the Optimow 10 has good terrainability and it operates quietly.
Cutting time
The recommended lawn size for Optimow 10 is approximately 10,700 square feet, but that is a bit of a stretch if you don’t tweak your installation. If you just position the robot lawn mower on the lawn and have it working at least eight hours a day all week, it will manage said 10,700 square feet. But if you only want it working on weekdays, which most people do, you have to do some tweaking to the installation.

What we did to make it work on the recommended lawn size was to program a couple of starting points, one on each end of the garden and four in total. We made sure the guide wire was close by in each of these areas so it would be able to travel back and forth to the station quickly, while at the same time ending up in the correct lawn area every time.
So why doesn’t it cover the full lawn out of the box? The kind of things that mess up the recommended lawn size is the charging time; it’s more than two hours long. So if you have a mowing schedule with a time span of 6 hours, it will only be able to mow two times that day. So you either have to stretch it out to one 7-8 hour time span, or split the time span into two different slots that day.
Programming and features
Greenworks Optimow 10 can only be programmed via the app. The app is slow and there is a lot of information crunched into very few menu options (probably because of the time it takes to navigate from one menu alternative to the next). They really need to fix this ASAP!
The app works as intended in all other ways. It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3 to program a mowing schedule and to understand the different features available.
You can program up to five different starting points, and you can choose if the robot is supposed to use the boundary wire or the guide wire to get there. So let’s say you have a remote area on your lawn with a small passage that your Optimow 10 rarely manages to find on its own. You can then let the guide wire pass through the passage and program the robot lawn mower to start mowing in that area 20 percent of the time (or however often you want it to). It will travel along the guide wire into that area and start mowing in there instead of by the station.
You also have options such as rain sensor and frost sensor. This means it won’t go out mowing your lawn in bad weather, otherwise it might hurt the grass during these conditions. We put the robot lawn mower to the test on a rainy day, and made it mow the lawn anyway. It had problems with damp slopes, and also got stuck in places where the lawn became too soft. So the rain sensor is a plus in this case.
Other than this there aren’t many user-friendly features you need to know about. We would have loved to see edge-cutting, spiral cutting, or similar innovative features for homeowners who want to cut down on the time span for the mowing schedules. This is one of the downsides with Optimow 10, you can’t really do much tweaking to the installation virtually. You actually need to adjust the wire installation so that it is perfect for the robot lawn mower. This means it will need some adjustment time (and patience) after the initial setup. But if you tweak your installation you won’t have much need for any other features than those in the app, because the automatic lawn mower just keeps mowing your lawn without you having to interfere.
Verdict
The Optimow 10 gives a great impression. It might not be as intelligent or feature packed as the top competitors on this lawn size, but it has other perks like modern connection options, app support, and good terrainability. Considering the price you get a lot of value for your money.
For who: Homeowners with medium-sized lawns who want to be able to control the robot lawn mower remotely, receive regular updates, and who don’t have a fairly uneven garden. If it’s somewhat flat and around the maximum recommended size, this robot lawn mower will do its job.
This robot lawn mower covers a lot of surface considering the low price, plus you get cellular connectivity and app support. Sure, there are some downsides to it, but in comparison with other budget brands this is great value for your money.
